Big Ambitions Outdated Guides: 8 Stale Figures to Drop

Updated 2026-09-08 · Last verified 2026-09-08 · Steam Big Ambitions

Big Ambitions spent roughly three years in Early Access and shipped 100 official update posts before 1.0 landed on 28 August 2026. The biggest risk in any guide is not a fabricated number — it's a number that was true two builds ago. This page lists eight claims still circulating in September 2026, with the correction and how many independent sources back it.

Nothing here is an accusation. Every fansite covering this game is real, and two of them are unusually careful about labelling sources. The problem is structural: a long Early Access reworks the economy repeatedly, pages get edited at wildly different times, and a page written honestly in 2024 becomes wrong in 2026 without anyone touching it.

1. "The city has five neighbourhoods"

The 1.0 build has seven. This is the fastest test in the game for whether a guide has been touched since early 2025.

The count went five, then six, then seven. Industry City arrived in Early Access 0.9, described in the official changelog as a whole new neighbourhood reached across a bridge. The Hamptons arrived with 1.0, and the official changelog calls it "our seventh neighborhood" in plain words. Four independent lines of evidence agree on seven: the official 1.0 changelog, PCGamesN's 30 August 2026 report which uses almost the same phrasing, the community wiki's own Rivals and Buildings pages, and a competitor's price tables which are broken out by seven districts.

The community wiki's Neighborhoods page still reads "separated into 5 neighborhoods". It was last edited on 21 February 2025. Its Category:Neighborhoods contains five entries, and neither Industry City nor The Hamptons has a category or an article at all. Anything downstream inherits the error, including subway station lists covering only the original five districts. See the map page for the current seven and when each was added.

2. The vehicle table with Spanish rows in it

The community wiki's Vehicles page was edited on 6 September 2026, so it looks current. The table inside it is not clean.

Four separate signs of contamination sit on the same page. The "Auto park support" column contains the value Si, which is Spanish for yes, where every other row says Yes. Camion de Carga T1 and Freight Truck T1 are the same truck listed twice in different tables. The BIMA 320 row gives a price of 48,000 with no dollar sign while every neighbouring row has one. And the vehicle names themselves are unstable: Vord V150 versus Vord 150, Anselmo AF90 versus Anseimo AF90, Mersaidi Mgagt GT versus Mersaidi MGA GT. The wiki hosts a separate Spanish-language Big Ambitions page, which is the likely origin.

That is a single-source table with visible merge damage, so no price or cargo capacity from it is usable. What survives the test is the vehicle names and the driver skill gates, because those appear identically on two separately-edited 1.0-era pages: Freight Truck T1 needs Delivery Driver skill at or above 95 per cent, the Vord Courier D500 needs 75 per cent, and the Mersaidi Dash, UMC Nunavut and Vord V150 need 50 per cent. Everything else is on the vehicles page with its sourcing stated.

3. The apartment row with the wrong rent

On the community wiki's Apartment page, the Midtown listing at 24 2nd Avenue gives a floor area of 54 m² with a daily rent of $460, a deposit of $13,812, and an appliance cost written as 90 with no currency symbol.

Other 54 m² Midtown apartments on the same table rent for $122 per day. The 204 m² tier is where $460-scale figures belong, so this row has almost certainly inherited numbers from the row for a much larger flat. The page was last edited on 12 October 2024, covers only four of the seven neighbourhoods, and has no Lower Manhattan, Industry City or Hamptons entries at all.

The fix here isn't one cell. A 52-row rent table from October 2024 with at least one confirmed transcription error is Early Access data with a known defect, and 1.0 reworked banking and taxes around it. Treat every figure on it as historical. Real estate covers the building-code system instead — structural, and far less likely to have moved.

4. The version history that stops at Early Access 0.6

This is the root cause of most of the rest. The community wiki's Development page, the natural place to check what changed and when, has content that ends at Early Access 0.6, October 2024. There is no 0.7, no 0.8, no 0.9, no 0.10, no 0.11 and no 1.0. One of the wiki's own editors left the summary "no edit since 8 month" on it in September 2026.

Four substantial content releases are therefore invisible to anyone using that page as their timeline:

BuildDateWhat it changed that breaks older guides
EA 0.9 The Struggle2025Industry City as the sixth neighbourhood, six new warehouse sizes P1 to Q3, tutorial rebuilt from scratch
EA 0.10 No Business Like Show Business11 March 2026Cinema and Theater added, factories fully reworked, Actor / Stage Crew / Projectionist roles
EA 0.11 The Workshop Awakens18 June 2026Steam Workshop support, Travel Agency and Event Planning Agency, gym profitability buffed
1.028 August 2026The Hamptons, Private Driver, Speedy Bites, HQ Pricing Manager, negative interest removed, taxes rebalanced

Any guide that does not know about at least the last two of these is describing a different economy. The full comparison is on Early Access versus 1.0.

5. "5,930 reviews at 91 per cent"

Both numbers are real. Neither is the total.

ScopeReviewsPositiveRating
All languages (language=all, 8 Sep 2026)14,28192.2%Very Positive
English only (language=english, 8 Sep 2026)6,16391.4%Very Positive
Steam appdetails recommendations total13,733not broken outnot stated

The Steam store page shows the English subset by default, which is why the smaller figure spreads. Several fansites and at least one outlet quote a number in the 5,800–5,900 range or "91 per cent" without stating scope; a few do label it English, and those are correct. The trap is the unlabelled version, which understates the review count by more than half.

Note also that Steam's own two endpoints disagree by 548 reviews on the same day — a caching artefact, and a good argument for never presenting a precise review count as durable fact. If you want one safe sentence, use the store rating band: Very Positive.

6. A price range that looks corroborated and is not

The figure in circulation is "Hamptons houses run from $18.4 million (T1) to $85.5 million (T11)". It appears on the community wiki's Buildings page, edited 7 September 2026, and on one competitor wiki.

Two sites showing identical numbers reads as confirmation. It is not, in this case. The competitor labels its own source for that range as the community wiki's wikitext, and to its credit flags the figure as third-party and not officially confirmed. So the chain is one source, republished. The official 1.0 changelog gives no number and only asks whether you have "a few million dollars to spend".

The general rule matters more than this specific case: before treating a figure as double-sourced, check whether the second site cites the first. With a small number of fansites and one large community wiki, that happens often. See the Hamptons page for what is officially confirmed about the district.

7. Any logistics capacity number

There are three incompatible answers in circulation and no way to choose between them from published sources.

SourceClaimPage last edited
Delivery Driver and Logistics Manager pagesFreight Truck T1 reaches 4 destinations at base, 8 with a 100 per cent Logistics Manager7 to 8 Sep 2026
Importers pageEvery vehicle is capped at "Up to 4"Oct 2025, Early Access
Warehouse pageOne warehouse serves up to 16 destinations, using two trucks and two full-skill managers5 Sep 2026

The first and third are internally consistent, since 16 is 2 × 8. The second flatly contradicts both, and it is the oldest of the three. Delivery timing has the same problem: one page says drivers run at 02:00, another says delivery plans go out at 08:00.

So the logistics page carries no destination cap and no delivery clock. What it does carry is the mechanism, which every source agrees on: deliveries need a vehicle in the warehouse or factory, a Delivery Driver assigned to it, and at least one Storage Shelf at the receiving store, and capacity scales with vehicle size and Logistics Manager skill.

8. Starting money and best-first-business figures

Destructoid's 30 August 2026 starter guide is post-1.0 and therefore newer than most of what circulates. It states that you want $40,000 to $50,000 for an easy start, a retail shop with 30 customer slots or more, a gym open 24 hours across all seven days, at least four cleaners and four trainers, and six-hour shifts rather than eight.

Those are one outlet's figures, not thresholds the game publishes. No second outlet gives comparable numbers and Hovgaard Games has never stated any of them. Attribute them, do not promote them. One detail does cross-check: 30 customer slots matches the C1 and C2 retail building codes, which the community wiki lists at 30 customer capacity, so that part is a real building tier rather than a round number.

The "best first business" question has no stable answer at all. Destructoid points at a large retail store then a gym. PC Gamer's 2023 writer ran a gift shop and had a burger restaurant fail on a bad-traffic site. Content farms variously recommend gym only, gift shop plus florist, or a coffee shop. Those span two different economies, and Early Access 0.11 buffed gyms by letting them sell soda and energy drinks without extra staff. A ranking cannot survive a patch that changes profitability, so the businesses page describes trade-offs and refuses it.

Two 2023 figures are outright void and still get repeated. PC Gamer's $15,000 starting loan from Uncle Fred predates a 1.0 banking rework that changed income requirements, interest rates, minimum daily payments and maximum loan size. GameRant's $1,000 per delivery was corrected by the developer to $400 back in Early Access 0.2, which the community wiki's own Development page records.

One more reason for scepticism about confident 1.0 advice: Steam's global unlock rates, pulled 8 September 2026, show the golf and tennis minigames and every Arch-nemesis tier at 0.1 per cent, with the bronze private-driver achievement at 1.4 per cent. Almost nobody has played the 1.0 additions deeply yet, so detailed strategy for them cannot exist honestly this early — the achievements page shows the full distribution.

Frequently asked questions

How many neighbourhoods does Big Ambitions have?

Seven, as of the 1.0 release on 28 August 2026. The official 1.0 changelog calls The Hamptons 'our seventh neighborhood', and PCGamesN reported the same on 30 August 2026. The widely-read community wiki still opens its Neighborhoods page with 'separated into 5 neighborhoods', because that page was last edited in February 2025, before Industry City and The Hamptons both landed.

Does Big Ambitions have 5,930 reviews at 91 per cent?

That is the English-language subset, not the total. Pulling the Steam review endpoint with language=all on 8 September 2026 returns 14,281 reviews at 92.2 per cent positive; language=english returns 6,163 at 91.4 per cent. The Steam store page shows the English figure by default, which is how the smaller number ends up quoted as a total.

How many delivery destinations can one warehouse serve?

No number on this page, because the available sources give three different answers. Two community wiki pages say a Freight Truck T1 covers four destinations at base and eight with a fully-skilled Logistics Manager; a third page says every vehicle is capped at four; a fourth says a warehouse tops out at sixteen. What all of them agree on is the direction: bigger truck plus higher Logistics Manager skill equals more destinations.

Are Hamptons house prices really $18.4 million to $85.5 million?

Possibly, but that range rests on one source. It comes from the community wiki's Buildings page, and the competitor site that also shows it labels its own source as that wiki's wikitext. Two sites displaying the same numbers is one source repeated, not corroboration. The official 1.0 changelog only asks whether you have 'a few million dollars to spend'.

How do I tell if a Big Ambitions guide is out of date?

Check three things. Does it say seven neighbourhoods or five? Does it mention the 1.0 additions by name, meaning The Hamptons, the Private Driver at Onyx Luxury Chauffeurs, Speedy Bites, the HQ Pricing Manager and the removal of negative interest? And does it date its figures at all? A guide that fails the first test predates February 2025 in substance, whatever its published date says.

Is the gym the best business to start with?

There is no agreed answer, and the answer moved between builds. Early Access 0.11 in June 2026 explicitly buffed gym profitability by letting gyms sell soda and energy drinks without extra staff, so any ranking written before that date was measuring a different gym. The mechanical facts are safe to use: a gym needs no stock deliveries and no on-site attendance from you. The ranking is not.
